Xero Aptos Shoes Review
If you’re looking to introduce a friend or child to barefoot shoes, the Xero Aptos Shoes slip-on is an excellent choice. It offers a comfortable and stylish entry point without compromising on the benefits of barefoot footwear. Especially, it comes with affordable price, great option for beginners.
The Xero Aptos shoes has quickly become my go-to for casual outings, and there are several reasons why. Not only is it incredibly lightweight and flexible, but it also holds the title of the most affordable casual sneaker I’ve come across.
Specifications
- Upper: Hemp Canvas
- Insole: 2mm Foam
- Sole: 5.5mm FeelTrue® Rubber Sole
- Color: Black with white sole (other colors available for both Men’s and Women’s versions)
- Materials: 100% vegan-friendly
Fit
The Xero Aptos shoes are designed with a slightly tapered front, including the big toe area, making it essential to size with extra space in mind. The upper is generous, with a high toe box that offers ample room inside, ensuring comfort for your toes.
If you have high-volume feet, the Aptos will likely be a dream come true for you, providing ample space and comfort. It’s important to note that these sneakers run true to size but are slightly narrow in the toe box, which could be a consideration for those with wider feet.
For those with moderately high volume feet, the fit is excellent. People with very high volume feet might need to go without the insole, while those with lower volume feet should check out the women’s versions. The shoes are not super wide but offer flexibility, allowing a bit of room for adjustment.
Comfort
Wearing the Xero Aptos shoes without socks during hot summer days has been a breeze. My feet stay cool and comfortable, thanks to the breathable hemp canvas upper. The 5.5mm FeelTrue® rubber sole is flexible, providing a barefoot feel with excellent ground feedback. There was no break-in period, and the shoes are easy to slip on hands-free due to their padded collar.
Style and Design
Unlike some barefoot shoes, the Aptos doesn’t scream “minimalist shoe,” making it a fantastic option for those transitioning to barefoot footwear or simply looking for a versatile sneaker.
Cleaning and Care
Avoid machine washing and drying these shoes. A firm brush works well for removing dried stains, and a damp cloth can handle gentle cleaning. For a thorough clean, remove the insole and avoid direct heat when drying.
Purchasing and Returns
Xero Shoes are available internationally through various local retailers, including Cool East Market (Canada), Happy Little Soles (UK), the .AU store (Australia), and BareFootBar (EU). In the US, the Aptos is priced at $59.99, but prices are expected to rise due to increasing material costs.
Conclusion
The Xero Aptos Shoes have won me over with their classic look and comfortable fit for wide and moderately high volume feet. While the black and white colorway is versatile, a matching strap color would enhance the overall design. These shoes are a fantastic addition to any minimalist’s wardrobe, providing comfort, style, and a natural feel for your feet.
